Tablets – Your Regional SEO Friend

We know an awful lot of people who got an iPad or tablet over the Christmas period. It’s slowly becoming a must-have – especially for those in the organic search engine optimisation industry who view it as a powerful tool to help them provide SEO on the go.

We were very interested when we heard Chitika’s prediction that, by the end of 2011, they estimate that tablets will account for just over two per cent of all web traffic in North America. If accurate, and if that trend were to continue and the technology continues to develop, then by the end of the decade browsing as we know it will be virtually unrecognisable.

An iPad is a great tool for regional SEO

But we’ll have to cross that bridge when we come to it! If you’re lucky enough to have a tablet in your possession then you can make use of it right now to help build your online business – especially when it comes to regional SEO.

The portability of the tablet is its greatest asset. There’s so much you can access on the go, meaning updates to your site can be made at any time, any place. This can prove to be incredibly useful, especially if you’re utilising a regional SEO campaign into your local business.

If you have the time, go out and about and observe the local area. Use your iPad to jot down something you’ve noticed and upload it as a blog to show your community that you’re active in the local area. Relate that blog to your local SEO strategy and perform some internal high quality link building.

Or take it with you when doing a stock check and inform your traffic what you currently have on sale that might tickle their fancy. Need to change your opening hours unexpectedly one day and have to rush out of the office? A quick update via your tablet will keep your core customer base informed at all times and show them that they’re always at the forefront of your mind. This is a great way to keep your social media marketing campaign updated on a consistent basis.

As the tablet culture grows we’re sure to see changes with user’s internet behaviour. We can’t wait to see how tablets can aid the future of SEO, too.
