The Three PRs – Proof Reading, Positive Reflection and Perfect Results

The importance of a website’s content can’t be underestimated, so it’s important that you get your on-page properly optimised and make it legible and interesting to attract traffic.

But while you may have perfect copy integrated site-wide, you must do everything in your power not to falter with your off-page grammar. There’s the excuse that on-page content doesn’t need much tending to after its implemented. It can stay there for a period of time, helping to gain traffic and rankings in your SEO campaign.

But your off-page is a different kettle of fish. You need to consistently work on your off-page in the form of articles, blogs and press releases all the time to keep your campaign fresh and constantly moving in the same direction. It’s easy for errors to creep into your off-page content if you aren’t careful and don’t proofread your writing.

Using your little red penw ill save you face!

Even more so if you’re in a rush. You’ll be kicking yourself if you have to quickly construct a press release and submit it, only to look back a couple of days later after it’s gone to see you’ve misplaced an apostrophe or used the wrong form of ‘their’.

We’re only human after all, but even if you’re in a rush you need to go over your content with a fine-toothed comb. People pick up on mistakes, whether they’re in an SEO blog, press release or article. After you’ve submitted any of these across the internet then, more likely than not, you won’t be able to edit them afterwards.

It may sound a bit picky but these kinds of copywriting mistakes stick in people’s minds and – especially if they’re major mistakes – reflect badly on your business. Though you may be distributing a PR regarding an incredible deal on some of your products, people may be reluctant to investigate further and ultimately make a purchase if you can’t get a grasp of basic grammar. It may sound a bit alarmist, but it’s a natural reaction – suspicions may be aroused as to if you’re a credible business or not.

Get the grammar basics right!

If your off-page copy is clean, clear and concise at all times though, then the opposite is true. Good grammar is its own reward, and people will put their trust and faith in you as a reputable online retailer.
