Search Engine Optimization Is A Technical Discipline

Although SEO is not a science, and despite the fact that a great deal of creativity is required to get a continuous campaign to develop meaningful momentum, some aspects of the discipline are technical. They cannot be performed adequately by an individual who does not have the necessary skill or experience. For example, when an SEO consultant wishes to analyse a site in terms of its conversion rates it is the case that they often use SEO tools. These can help detect which pages are performing well and which pages are proving to be a disappointment.

At Searchengineoptimisation.co.uk we use the latest SEO tools to ensure that our campaigns attain the heights that our diverse clients deserve. This puts their sites streets ahead of sites which have their SEO done by enthusiastic amateurs.

The fact is that despite the inherent complexity of SEO, some techniques reap greater rewards than others. It is always important to bear in mind the unique features of a site when implementing SEO, however. The technical parts of SEO are complicated and trying to get anywhere with them without the required tools is foolhardy. While some individuals think that they can learn SEO from studying the blogs on the net alone, this is not true for several reasons. The following list is far from exhaustive:

- The only way to learn SEO adequately is by combining theory and practice. This means that the ideas gleaned from a diversity of sources have to be tested in the crucible of practice. For instance, theory by itself is not a good guide to SEO. It is best to allow the abstract to inform the concrete practice, before permitting outcomes to feed back into theory. Of course, it is possible that the theory may apply to one site much more than another. SEO is all about exceptions. Nonetheless, that demonstrates that a SEO practitioner must gain as much practical experience as possible.

- The actual practices involved in making the most out of an SEO campaign are complicated and involve a great deal of work. Those who lack the technical ability should leave it to those who can manage to get things right. Many of us would not dream of fixing our own car and instead would leave it to a skilled mechanic. The same principle applies to SEO.

- A variety of things can temporarily go wrong with an SEO campaign. If the worst happens, the result can be a search engine penalty. Given that this could involve a site being banished from the rankings it makes sense that every precaution is taken. If an unskilled person manages a site, it may suffer from duplicate content issues and other unfortunate glitches.

- The information which is featured on the pages of the sites of SEO firms is sometimes out-of-date. In addition, it can be written by an unethical SEO company. Furthermore, even reputable SEO outfits will not disclose everything on their blogs and articles, because this would jeopardise their competitive advantages. It thus makes sense to use the data to get the services of a good firm and to work with them from an informed position.
