Does SEO Favour Some Industries Over Others?

We’d all like to think that search engine optimisation is a truly level playing field; and that all industries have more or less the same chance of making it up to the top of a results set. The problem, unfortunately, is that no industry is the same – and some industries are so competitive that SEO campaigns need to be that much more focused and effective to help you stand out from the crowd.

The problem is fairly simple, the more technical or niche an industry (generally) the less it is able to communicate effectively to the average web user and garner a good quanitity of backlinks through consumer interaction. Whilst on the surface, this seems like an insurmountable problem for search engine optimisation services, luckily there is a shaft of light – creativity.

The creative element inherent in the world wide web is in fact the saving grace when it comes to  seo marketing and backlink generation for traditionally “SEO resistant” industries; and with social media optimization becoming a fundamental aspect of SEO – there has never been a better time to optimize for those difficult industries.

Admittedly, the cornerstone of seo and search engine marketing services will always be keywords and some industries will always have the advantage in this regard; for example, the broader a subject, such pets and pet accessories, the larger the scope for a greater number and better diversity of keywords.

When it comes to backlink generation (arguably equally important as keywords for social media marketing services) things are a different, and such is the landscape of the internet nowadays that the oppourtunities for practically any kind of industry to garner ethical backlinks is truly immense.

The challenge, of course, for search engine marketing services is to get creative with their backlinks, and this will require both an acute understanding of the particular industry you are serving, coupled with a solid understanding of its consumer base. Remember, its the consumers that will be generating the backlinks!

Getting Clever with Social Media

Social media optimisation is now the most fertile ground for creating backlinks; and this is especially true for industries that don’t easily gel with content creation etc. Such is the diversity of the social media landscape that it really is possible for a company, however obscure, to garner loads of backlinks; for example, simply by creating a profile on a site like Twitter you will be able to communicate directly to your consumer base and to speak to them in language that is more appropriate for your industry.
